Group Description
The unique Yahoo rail email group covering LIVERPOOL and MERSEYSIDE, allows members to share gen, report sightings and discuss rail topics. Nothing railway orientated is taboo, we cover the present day and preservation scenes and your posts can relate to locos, rolling stock, track machines or plant - even railway structures if you will. We welcome debate, questions being asked or anything which helps to improve your enjoyment of the railway hobby.
If you're not already a group member, feel free to join us. The only conditions are that you're a railway enthusiast and are willing to share your news, views and topics which SOLELY RELATE TO THE LIVERPOOL AND MERSEYSIDE AREA including Rainford, Ormskirk, Widnes, Runcorn, Helsby, and Ellesmere Port.

| Location Name: TS362 - Altcar
Location Notes: Altcar is the southern end of the commuter town of Formby.
Railway type and traffic The line has a 15 minute frequency worked by class 507/508 EMUs. |
| Location Name: TS366 - Bidston
Location Notes: Bidston is a small island-platform station and is the junction for the Wrexham line.
Railway type and traffic A 15 minute daytime frequency provided by class 507/508 EMUs into Liverpool. Wrexham trains run hourly and are usually operated by class 153 units. They normally enter and leave from the southern platform. |
| Location Name: TS363 - Hightown
Location Notes: Hightown is a very quiet village between Formby and Crosby and approximately midway between Southport and Liverpool.

Location Notes: Hoylake is a commuter village just east of West Kirby.

Location Notes: Meols is a small commuter station is a nice residential area.

| Location Name: TS364 - Moorfields
Location Notes: Moorfields is one of the quietest stations on the underground part of the Merseyrail network. It was built in the late 1970s and replaced the Lancashire and Yorkshire terminus nearby of Liverpool Exchange whilst enabling Northern Line trains to continue under the city to Garston.

| Location Name: TS365 - New Brighton
Location Notes: New Brighton is a small sea-side town on the western banks of the Mersey Estuary. It was popular in Victorian Times but now is very quiet. The station is a nice example of a Mersey Railway terminus with an Island Platform and several storage roads.

| Location Name: TS369 - West Kirby
Location Notes: West Kirby is a small town on the east side of the Dee Estuary and is only several miles from Mostyn Docks on the North Wales Main Line across the river (though much more by road!) The station is reasonably busy and comprises of an Island Platform with two stabling roads. Mondays to Fridays a six-car set usually stables here between peaks. Either platform is used for normal departures.
