Locations within group area

Location Name:
TS910 - Burgs Lane, Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury

Location Notes:
The line is situated on the Shrewsbury - Newport line, situated in Bayston Hill, on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.

Railway type and traffic
153s, 150s, 158s, and 175s all run along the line. Charters can see anything on them, mostly 67s or 47s.
Freight consists of northbound and southbound steel workings, 60 or 66s being the staple motive power. FLHH run two coal trains, both northbound which will of course have 66s on them.

Location Name:
TS937 - Chirk Viaduct

Location Notes:
A small town just on the Welsh side of the River Dee valley, a few miles south of Wrexham on the Chester - Shrewsbury line.

Railway type and traffic
Hourly Chester - Shrewsbury service, with some trains starting back from North Wales, South Wales or Birmingham. A mix of 158s and 175s.
Some freight, mainly steel from Dee Marsh to South Wales.

Location Name:
TS782 - Cosford

Location Notes:
Cosford is west of Wolverhampton on the line to Shrewsbury. The station serves the RAF barracks, as well as the RAF Museum based at the airfield.
The nearest town is Albrighton, a couple of miles South East.

Railway type and traffic
The line here is a double track mainline, with loops in both directions, although these are rarely used for freight to my knowledge. The Eastbound loop however is sometimes used to hold engineers vehicles.
Passenger services are operated in the main by Central Trains, using DMUs from class 150, 153, 156, 158 and 170. Arriva Trains Wales also operates along this route, mainly using class 158 DMUs.
Freight is few and far between, however coal trains to and from Ironbridge pass this way, usually hauled by a class 66. Also, engineers trains from Bescot to the Shrewsbury area will use this route, often with a class 37 loco if heading down the Cambrian line from Shrewsbury.

Location Name:
TS607 - Hereford

Location Notes:
This location is in the City of Hereford. It is situated on the Marches Mainline from Newport to Crewe.

Railway type and traffic
Hereford is on the Mainline from Cardiff to Manchester, meaning frequent services in each direction. There are hourly Central Trains turbostars from Nottingham and Birmingham, and a few FGW trains to London Paddington each day.
There is a nice selection of freight, mainly DB Schenker 60s and 66s. There is the odd Freightliner 66, and very occasionally a GBRf 66.

Location Name:
TS1060 - Howton Court Crossing

Location Notes:
On the Welsh Marches line in beautiful countryside about half way between Hereford and Abergavenny.

Railway type and traffic
Passenger Traffic is handled by 175s in the two liveries of Arriva Trains Wales.
Freight is DB Schenker and Freightliner 66s covering Coal, Steel and Departmental.

Location Name:
TS526 - Pontrilas

Location Notes:
On the Welsh Marches line, approx half way between Hereford and Abergavenny.

Railway type and traffic
Crewe/Cardiff trains are normally 158s but events at Cardiff Stadium can lead to class 67s.
Freight is mainly steel hauled by 60s or 66s.
