Location notes
Wroxham is north of Norwich on the line to Cromer and Sheringham. It used to be the juction for the former Great Eastern cross-country route to County School. Part of this line now forms the narrow-guage Bure Valley Railway which operates from an adjacent station. The line was resignalled recently but the signal box and old sidings were still there in Spring 2004.
Railway type and traffic
There is a regular hourly service between Norwich and Sheringham usually operated by class 150 units. There is also a daily tank train from North Walsham to Harwich. This conveys sludge from North Sea Oil Pipes, so during summer when there is not as much oil needed there tends to be less sludge so therefore the train may only run two or three times a week. This train usually passes south through Wroxham about 1430, following the local train to Norwich.
Environment
Wroxham and Hoveton are to seperate villages. Wroxham is the main village, also slightly further from the station, and is one of the northerly points on the Norflolk Broads so has a large Marina, visible from the train as you approach from Norwich.
Road directions
The station is situated on the B1354 just west of its junction with the A1151 from Norwich and the A1062 which links from the A149 Cromer to Great Yarmouth road.

Photographic notes
The light is best here in the afternoon for trains heading towards Norwich. From the end of the north-bound platform you can take pictures of trains approaching passing the old signalbox, from the south-bound platform with a telephoto lense you can include the old yard as the train curves towards you.
