New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
The bridge is on the West Curve in Didcot. The west curve links the London - Bristol line to the London - Oxford line, enabling trains to come up from Swindon and head up to Oxford without having to reverse in Didcot Station.
Railway type and traffic
The West Curve has very few services. The main train in daylight is the Calvert - Avon bin liners, but freight can be diverted on the line quite often.
Environment
The location is on a fairly busy road. It has a footpath on the side facing Swindon. Keep your back in, as buses cross over the bridge at regular intervals. The bridge has traffic lights controlling it, and is fairly busy, so people will not stop and ask what you are doing, but be prepared for a few strange looks.
Road directions
From the A34:
Take the turning into Didcot and continue along the A4130, crossing two roundabouts. Then park in Didcot Station Car Park. Walk back, west along Station Road, up onto Foxhall Road, turning right when you get to the T junction. The bridge is about 30 meters from the junction.
