New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Just outside Ipswich on the Lowestoft and Felixstowe lines. It is at this point that the Felixstowe branch diverges as a single line whilst the Lowestoft line continues as double track.
Railway type and traffic
Class 153/156/170 on the Lowestoft and Felixstowe Greater Anglia services.
Class 66 and Class 70 hauled freight traffic to Felixstowe.

You can park on nearby road with no concerns. But do not park in the entrance to the NR site.
Public transport
There is a regular rail service from Ispwich going to Lowestoft or Felixstowe. There is also a limited service of bus routes nearby.

Photographic notes
Light is good most of the day, not too much noise from outside the railway. best location is probably on the towards Lowestoft platform but the better light is from the Ipswich bound platform.
Freight has to slow for the 35mph junction of the Felixstowe Branch. If the working is heading towards Felixstowe it will also have to use the crossover to the west of the station and run through the Ipswich bound platform.
