Location notes
On the Great Western Main Line about 50 miles west of London. On the south east side of a triangle with an avoiding line also to the east.
Railway type and traffic
First Great Western services originating from Paddington. Oxford trains will take the avoiding line to the east of the station (usually Voyagers on Cross Country workings) and local services to Oxford will go through the station before diverging off.
The fast lines have a speed limit of 125mph and see both stopping and through services.
There is also an DB Schenker locos stabling point (usually 60s and 66s) between the 2 curves leading to Oxford.
The
Didcot Railway Centre is also close to the Station.

Environment
On the edge of the town, the station is staffed during the day.
Road directions
At Milton leave the A34 and take the second exit A4130 (which is signposted to Didcot). Follow the A4130, heading left at the first roundabout, across the next four and right at the fifth onto Mersey Way. follow this road south and Station Road will be on your right after passing over the railway.

Parking
The station has a carpark, of shich one section you can see from the platforms!
Public transport
First Greater Western Link and First Great Western and Thames Trains all operate services.
Stagecoach Oxford buses from Oxford, Abingdon and Wantage daily and Thames Travel from Wallingford during the week.

Amenities
There is a "Lemon Tree" on one of the platforms and a Spar by the main entrance.
The station has toilet facilities.
03-05 update - PDThere is now a large Sainsburys located near the
location. There is a Café in the Sainsburys and it overlooks the eastern end of Didcot Parkway approach - all traffic using Didcot East Junction can be seen from the café (ie on the avoiding curve
and through the station) . DB Schenker livery locos can be eyeballed although 'viewing aids' may be required for locos or units with smaller numbers.

Photographic notes
The station is on a quite long section of straight track so there is ample opportunity to catch approaching trains. There are many positions throughout the day so getting the sun right should not be a problem.
