We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
The principal intermediate station on the Ely-Norwich line.
Railway type and traffic
Mostly diesel multiple units and a small amount of freight.. The odd steam hauled charter to Norwich also appears.
A busy country town. Station is manned and seems enthusiast friendly. Pub next door, maybe worth avoiding late evenings.
Road directions
Thetford is on the A11 through Anglia. The station is well signposted in Thetford. Small station car park on south side. Minor road (Station Lane) on north side with free parking - will need map reading skills to find it off A134!

Photographic notes
Nice old station canopies mean shots looking east need to be taken at platform level. From the footbridge the canopies obscure the eastbound view. Looking west a nice shot can be had from footbridge of Norwich-bound trains or going away shots of Ely-bound trains. The track loops in almost a horseshoe through the station so angles can be had throughout the day.
