New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Barby Nortoft is on the outskirts of Northamptonshire, just a short distance away from 'DIRFT'. The line at this location is on the main line section of the WCML, that avoids Northampton.
Railway type and traffic
Almost all traffic that uses this line is operated by Virgin trains. Freight operations will follow the Northampton loop.
Environment
The location itself is an over bridge on a quiet country road.
Road directions
From the M1, Junction 18:
Follow signs towards Rugby on the A428. You will shortly come to a roundabout, which you go straight over. A pub will be to the right, and a UK petrol station to your left. Shortly after, you need to take the next left. Pass over the first bridge and continue to the second bridge.

Photographic notes
Shots can be taken form both sides of the bridge. Northbound shots can also be taken from the field gate, although a small zoom lens would ideally be required for this shot.
