Location notes
This station is the terminus of the Lytham line, which diverges off the main line to Blackpool North, west of Kirkham.
This was not the original terminus of this line. For, until 1964, it carried on to Blackpool Central. That station closed in 1964, and for a history of that station, with then and now pictures, visit the page on the
disused stations website.
Railway type and traffic
The station is a single track terminus, with no run round facilities. The only trains are class 142 DMUs of Northern, on local passenger services to Preston and beyond.
Environment
A fair bit south of Blackpool town centre, this is a residential and retail hotspot. It is fairly busy at all times, so do be cautious. CCTV does not cover the station.
It is also near the coast, so do dress for the weather.
Road directions
Blackpool is well signposted on all routes The station is signposted as well. It is located on Waterloo Road. To help you out, just east of the station, over the bridge, is the Waterloo Hotel.

Northern Rail website for more details.

For bus and tram info visit the
metro coastlines website.

Amenities
The most famous landmark is the Waterloo hotel/Pub. Famous, because the bowling green attached to it plays host to a crown green tournament every year, which is televised on Sky sports. If you fancy playing on the green, it is open during the season, £2 per person (2006 prices).
There are other shops and a petrol station nearby, whilst 10 minutes away by bus or tram is Blackpool town centre. The nearest toilets are located in the pleasure beach, or at the town centre. Toilets are in the Waterloo, but only if you are a customer.
Accommodation

Photographic notes
Waterloo Road is a busy road, and the car park is busy at times. This will cause noise on videos. Trains come into the station slowly, round a sharp bend, so you will not get much warning of a train. Shots can be taken in both directions, i.e. north and south.
The nearby road will give another dimension to pictures, with clear shots being obtainable.
