New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Main railway station of Amersfoort serbing the main routes to the north and to Apeldoorn on the way to Germany. This line has passenger trains, Freight and the international connection to Berlin.
Railway type and traffic
A lot of different passenger trains, Freight, and sometimes a steam train between Apeldoorn and Utrecht. Every second weekend of the month there is a special train to the railway museum in Utrecht Maliebaan.
Environment
It is in the middle of the town Amersfoort with 6 platforms. There are views in both directions from every platform but platforms 6&7 and platform 2&4 offer the best views.
Road directions
Take the A28 towards Amersfoort and get off at Amersfoort-Zuid. Follow the signs to the Zoo. Then you get signs directing you to the railway station.

Parking
Parking can be done at the back of the railway station or in the front. Keep in mind that the charges are high €11 a day, better is to park at Amersfoort Schothorst railway station which is easier to reach by car though.
A28/A1 exit Amersfoort North and follw the signs to the station.
Parking is free and there are 6 trains an hour to Amersfoort.
Public transport
The location is reachable by train form every direction in the Netherlands.

Amenities
Paid toilet (€0.50) a few places to buy coffee and food, outside the railway station there are a few restaurants.
Accommodation
A few hotels in the neighbourhood of the station are available.

Photographic notes
Platform 1/2, In the early afternoon and later the best option, in the morning the other way
Platform 6/7 in both directions best time is afternoon.
All other platforms are also good for taking pictures. best time is during the week when the freight runs.
