New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
This rural location is between the village of Langham and the hamlet of Burley. The line runs between Syston, to the east, to Manton junction, in the west, and thence to Corby or Peterborough.
Railway type and traffic
The usual traffic is Cross Country 170s between Birmingham and Stansted.
Freight traffic is mostly class 66s and 70s on aggregate and intermodals. There are occasional 60s but these are rare.
It is also common to find Serco test trains running from Derby to the east of England which can produce 37s, 31s or 67s or even 68s on occasion.

Environment
It is a quiet and safe place to visit being so rural. There should be no trouble with farmers or the like. There is no shelter but you are close to your car if you drive.

Photographic notes
You can only really shoot trains heading east between 13:00 and 17:00 when it is sunny. When it is cloudy all day the location is good.
If you want to walk up the field there is a west bound shot in the dull.
