Location notes
A farm track / road bridge (with public right of way) over cross country freight line approximately. 7.5 miles north east of Burton on Trent and approximately. 1 mile from Stenson Junction.
Railway type and traffic
A double track freight line.
There is no passenger service as the route is freight only, but Derby to Birmingham Central Trains DMU's and Virgin Voyagers can be seen in the distance.
Freight traffic consists of bogie tanks, departmental, intermodal, coal and steel trains run by DB Schenker 60, 66 Freightliner 66 and GBRF 66.
This location is a nice change from Stenson Junction close by and approx. 1/3 to 1/2 of the traffic seen at Stenson Junction comes off this line.
The farm track does lead up to the Birmingham to Derby main line were you can view freightliners, voyagers and DMU's

Environment
Open countryside on both sides with a canal nearby.
This road is only for use by farm vehicles, but parking by the gate is possible, then walk to the bridge (50 yards). It is a public right of way leading to the canal tow path and onto the main Birmingham to Derby Mainline.
Road directions
Come off the main A38 onto the A5132. After approx. 2 miles turn left into Frizams lane. Head up this road and after 1 mile you will see a gate on the left leading to the railway bridge. Don't block the gate as the farmer uses this quite often.

Parking
Very limited by the bridge, it would be better to park near the marina area in Stenson and walk down the canal towpath.
Public transport
Arriva service 38 operates every 10 minutes from Derby to Stenson Fields. From Stenson Road the bus turns left before the road crosses the A50 onto Wragley Lane, from where it is about a 10-15 minute walk back down Stenson Road.
Walking down Stenson Road you will reach the Trent Canal. Here turn right and walk the canal tow path until the next bridge and here walk away from the river to reach the location.

Photographic notes
Still Photography Notes:
This location offers excellent views in both directions.
Video Photography Notes:
This location is good for video. Most freight slows down or stops for a while westbound, to allow passenger trains to pass on the main line. The A38 is just audible, but not a problem. Frizams lane traffic is light.

From the field with the bridge in the background.
The fence is a wire type and only about 4 feet tall, and the grass in the field can get as high thus hiding the fence. The position is also on a slight bend so making it look "wrong side" when it is not. The position can be seen in fig 1 at the curve of the tracks.
