New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
A quiet field location on the freight line between Stenson and Sheet Stores junction.
Railway type and traffic
This is a freight only line with regular traffic from DB Schenker class 60, 66 and 67, and Freightliners class 66s and occasional 70s. There are no passenger services, however occasional weekend diversions will see EMT HSTs and class 222 Meridians and Central Trains units.
The line is accessed by northbound traffic at the eastern end from the Midland Main Line and joins the Derby to Water Orton line heading south at the western end. It is not possible for southbound traffic to access the line at either end, however it is possible to reach both Toton and Nottingham from the triangle at the Trent junctions end.

Road directions
From the A50:
Take the A514 south, signed towards Swadlincote and Swarkestone and after crossing the railway and travelling about 1/3rd of a mile take the left towards 'Weston' and 'Aston'. Follow this road, you will pass over a slight crest in the road and as you come down the hill on the other side look for the overhead power cables. As you have passed under these the layby to park in is on the left. From here continue on foot around the boundary of the field, heading to the right (or south east) to reach the location.
