New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Situated on the main Edinburgh - Glasgow Queen Street or Stirling route, just west of Edinburgh park station.
Railway type and traffic
Main line, traffic mostly class 150, 156, 158, and 170 on Scotrail services. Also East Coast Inverness services. During the summer months the Royal Scotsman also passes by.
Freight is all but non existent with only the Freightliner operated cement ( Oxwellmains - Aberdeen / Inverness ) booked to pass by.

Rural, open countryside.
Road directions
From the A720 (city bypass)
Head towards Edinburgh airport, at the end of the bypass, take the first exit from the roundabout, A8 ( still heading towards the airport ). Take the first left from this road (just before a bridge ) continue up this road, pass over the railway. Parking should be possible either next to the scrap yard entrance or outside the houses ( right turn just after the bridge ) from this road, side on pictures ( not shown ) can be obtained.

Parking
Can be awkward due to narrow roads, but is possible by passing the location and walking back about 100m.
Public transport
A mini bus service run by 'Waverley Travel' passes by the location (ask the driver for Gogar station).
